The opening day Olympics ceremony and games got special treatment at East Village Place retirement community. As reported by 22WWLP.com, an NBC affiliate, residents and associates celebrated with style and enthusiasm. It started when the torch was passed between the first and second floors and a caldron was lit to kick off their own games.
Community Life Director Judith Gagnon organized the Olympic games. Some resembled traditional events, while others – like the popular egg-spoon race – were geared toward the residents. Community members cheered throughout and ended the day with a champagne ball.
