Expressions Calendar

Creative Spirits Keep on Soaring

Each little square on a new calendar represents a fresh opportunity to live with joy, growth, and fulfillment. In Watermark communities across the country, we see seniors who grab each day with gusto, pursuing their passions, connecting with others, and doing great things. Many of our residents choose to express themselves through the creative arts. We believe in making every day count, so we’ve shared their artistic achievements in our popular Expressions Calendar for more than two decades now. We hope you find inspiration and pleasure on every page.

Our 2025 artists have astonished us with works in paint, textiles, stained glass, ceramics, watercolors, photography, and more. Even Lego bricks make an appearance this year. You’ll see scenes that take you back to another time, characters you feel you know, and depictions of nature that make you shiver with cold or feel the sun on your face. Each month showcases a seasonal theme to nourish your soul. We hope you enjoy the artwork and feel inspired to explore your own creative side.

Complimentary copies of Expressions are available at a Watermark community near you. Visit Our Communities for a complete list of locations, and call your local Watermark community’s sales director to request a calendar for pickup, or we can mail one to you. If you can’t wait, download your electronic calendar today.

Joan Morris | HONOR THE SNOW GEESE

With an artist’s skill and passion, Joan made this painting in tribute to the snow geese that perished in a polluted mining pit in Montana. She beautifully captures the sensation of those geese as they once flew free through the cold of winter. Joan makes a powerful statement in the mood, palette, and grace of her work.

Ed Schurig | JULY 4TH

Summer’s arrival inspired Ed to capture the Fourth of July in a painting brimming with music, good food, friendship, and joy. Ed is a self-taught artist who’s been painting and making sculpture since he was 23. At age 45, he went public, joining art associations and exhibiting his work. That gave him confidence to keep growing as he explores expressionism, realism, and abstract art to this day.

He made 300 hats that were distributed at a prison, and every associate at The Lodge at North Ogden is proud to have at least one of his hand-knitted hats.
